Peter Wells is an experienced Executive and Board Director, and CEO of CPSIIG. He has a broad Government and Private Sector background spanning Transport, Natural Resources, Environment, Customer Service and Landuse Planning. He worked in operational and policy roles responsible for Regulation and Compliance, Licencing, IT Programs, controlling and granting Access rights, Financial Regulation and in Governance and Risk Control.
Peter was Director Safety & Compliance, at the NSW Roads and Maritime Services as Executive Director from 2010-2016 and held Director and General Manager roles in the NSW Government for over 10 years prior to this.
NSW is the most populous State in Australia with around a third of the National population. Peter has both a Bachelors and Masters degree and possesses 20 years of experience in customer service, regulation and enforcement including managing a series of areas including regulating vehicles and road use, environment protection, natural resources, investigating financial fraud, reforming licensing functions, motor vehicle emissions, auditing and community education/engagement, often working in complex or controversial areas.
Peter was responsible for managing the NSW customer and regulatory functions for heavy and light vehicles, licensing and registration and also business systems covering large state-wide functions (25 million annual transactions, around 5.2 million driver licences, 5.9 million vehicles) – now delivered in collaboration with Service NSW.
He has a passion for excellence in service delivery and in seeking large and important outcomes for the NSW and Australian community.

As a member of the AFP Financial Investigations Team, and Computer Forensics Team, Mr Towers received specialist training and mentoring in Forensic Accounting and IT Forensics.
Mr Towers has been seconded to both the NSW Crime Commission and to the United Nations.
Mr Towers has provided advice and assistance to management, lawyers, investigators and IT security officers in the public and private sectors.
Over forty four (44) years experience in Fire & Explosion Forensic Investigations, Motor Vehicle Identification, Vehicle Accident Investigation, Vehicle Accident Damage Assessment, Vehicle Accident Reconstruction; Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Systems and Machinery Failures. He has conducted a wide range of investigations covering all aspects of accidental and deliberate fire causation. John has completed 13 years as a Forensic Consultant, with Approved Forensics Sdn Bhd, and prior to that, a 30 year policing and law enforcement career with combined service in the Northern Territory of Australia and Australian Federal Police. During his service with the Australian Federal Police, John was in charge of the Crime Scenes Branch where he coordinated the provision of all Forensic Services, which included both the Forensic Science Laboratory and Forensic Investigation and Technical Services areas of the Forensic Services Division, to the Australian Capital Territory Region, which includes the Territory of Jervis Bay and the external Territories of Norfolk and Christmas Island, through managing a Service Level Agreement (SLA).
John holds various academic and professional qualifications in a number of disciplines within Forensic Science, including training in the Management of Serious Crime with the Australian Federal Police, a Churchill Fellowship studying Arson/Fire Investigation throughout the United States of America, Rendering Safe Improvised Explosive Devices with the Australian Army, Bomb Scene Examination under the auspices of Australia’s SACCSCPAV and the Commercial use of Explosives at the New South Wales Department of Technical and Further Education and the Canberra Institute of Technology.
John has extensive international background in government and private Forensic Science which includes academic and professional education and training, as well as, experience as a practitioner, senior manager, executive leader, advisor and consultant and has now been involved in the criminal and civil law. As a consequence of his background in crime scene management as well as his forensic science laboratory management experience, he is able to offer advice and assistance with a wide range of physical evidence types at all kinds of incidents. He can also advise on the most appropriate follow-up methods of examination and analysis and provide training and offer critical analysis of incident handling, quality assurance and contamination issues and provide expert opinion as to the appropriateness or otherwise of prior investigation techniques as well as manage the investigation of major incidents.
